Interview with Alexis Tapia

The creator of the Handy Stickers sticker pack
Sticker.Place: Where are you from and where do you live now?
Alexis Tapia: Well, I was born and raised in Mexicali, a border town between México and US. Currently, I live in my hometown, but I frequently travel around the Californias.
SP: Tell us about your stickers – characters.
AT: In our computer and mobile phone, We literally talk with our hands. Then it was very funny to create a series of cute characters that were hands, and that was the idea behind this sticker series.
SP: Which of your illustrations is your favorite?
AT: From this series, I'm not sure, maybe the FU sticker, it's so lovely and aggressive at the same time.
SP: Tell us about your first illustration.
AT: My first Illustration? I´m not sure at all. I think there were two that I could consider as my first illustrations, and they were in 2006, one was a shit (literally) and another was a weird character with a nightcap.
SP: Tell us about your background and experience.
AT: Drawing from the time I remembered, I also drew patches and mustaches to the people who appeared in the newspapers, I drew my classmates as well as my favorite video game characters and cartoons. My love for drawing led me to study graphic design, and that led me to discover the illustration, and this led me to the motion graphics and now this led me to enter the 3D illustration.
SP: What are your plans for the future?
AT: Keep working on my personal projects (one of them is to continue with the series of video game characters). Continue learning, working and collaborating and above all, continue to have fun in what I do.
SP: What is your favorite app or game?
AT: I´m a really fan of Megaman series (especially, the original series and X series), so my favorite game is a compilation for iOS with the first 6 released in the Nintendo Entertainment system.
