Interview with Pedro Piccinini

The creator of the Woooooop sticker pack
Sticker.Place: Where are you from and where do you live today?
Pedro Piccinini: I’m originally from a small town in southeastern Brazil, but I currently live and work in Brooklyn, NY.
SP: Tell us about the characters you created for your stickers.
PP: My characters came from my desire to give life and personality to the shapes and forms I often see around me.
SP: Which of your illustrations is your favorite?
PP: Each one of them has their place with me, but I guess my favorite is the first one — the character is holding the sun and always happy.
SP: Tell us about your background and experience.
PP: I have a degree in graphic design, but my path has led me from editorial design to illustration and animation, to tactile design and interactive experience installations. That’s what I’ve been working on full-time for the past year and change.
SP: What are your plans for the future?
PP: My plan is to gather the experience I’ve accrued in the different areas I’ve worked in so far and apply them to my future projects. Being multi-disciplined is, to me, a good way to learn new things and overcome new challenges.
SP: What is your favorite app or game?
PP: My favorite mobile game is Sword & Sorcery by Capy and Superbrothers. The soundtrack by Jim Guthrie only makes it more awesome. That game is a master class in design, experience, and storytelling. It’s a project I truly admire.
